Hello! My name is Lauren Metzler and I am an artist and children’s book illustrator.
I love working with all sorts of materials including watercolour, gouache, acrylic, coloured pencil and digital to create fun and whimsical illustrations.
From a very young age I drew picture books and painted anything and everything in my sketchbook. Originally from Oregon, I spent my childhood hiking the forests and waterfalls of the Pacific Northwest where I was introduced to the World of Faerie and other magical woodland creatures. This developed a strong fascination in the hidden wonders of the forest and nature that remains playing a reoccurring role in my illustrative work.
I graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and have since illustrated for picture books, character designs, storyboards, webcomics, magazines, wedding invitations, logo design, and hand-lettered typography.
I love all things Kawaii and cutesy, and am also inspired by Beatrix Potter and Roald Dahl. I now live on the sunny Northern Beaches of Manly with my lovely partner and our kitten Luna.
